Important Step In Creating An Online Business | Maximizing Your Search Engine Rankings

By arian On December 20, 2008 Under Uncategorized

Fact: At least 85% of the people drawn to your product or service found you through search engines like Yahoo, Google or MSN.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is made to look like rocket science.
Many marketers avoid the issue of increasing their search engine rankings because it seems like a lot of hard work.
But if you have the slightest desire to succeed in your online business,
you cannot afford to avoid this issue any longer.

Logically, the higher you rank in the listings provided by search engines, the better your chances of attracting targeted customers to your website. Higher search engine rankings mean greater web
traffic, which ultimately leads to increased sales. That is what search engine optimization is all about.

Technical information that you often get on how to improve your search rankings are too complicated and take a lot of time to implement. However, you needn’t go that far. Small adjustments to
some simple items on your page can improve rankings quite drastically.

-Title your page properly: The title of your page appears on the blue bar at the top of your page. To improve rankings, the words in the title bar should include your company’s name and keyword
phrases that are important for your business. Click on all your links and see that the title bars in every page carry relevant text.
A word of caution: don’t go overboard. Keep the title short with a maximum of 6-8 words. Do not repeat keywords.

-Offer quality content: Search engines these days are becoming quite clever. They literally crawl through your data to see if you are offering anything of value.
Using scintillating graphics is not going to help you with the search engines. Remember to use text in
HTML format and not in the form of pictures.

-Tag well: Meta tags are important. While this may sound difficult, it is actually very easy. Look at the source of your web page.
You will find a piece of code appearing at the top that reads: meta
name= “Keywords” content=. Remember to place vital keyword phrases
in this area.

-Cross link well: Search engines love popular websites. And how do they know if your website is popular? Simple.
They check for link popularity. Link popularity is based on the number and quality of
sites you have linked to, from your own website.
If your site suffers from low link popularity, launch a link popularity
campaign. Contact quality websites and request them to cross-link to your website.
Link only to popular websites that will direct more traffic your way in addition to boosting your search engine rankings.

Inexperienced web marketers make a common mistake: they spend heavily on ad campaigns and PPCs (Pay-per-clicks) without paying any attention to search engines.
SEO is one of the easiest ways to get your product noticed by people. So, it is an important factor
in internet-marketing.

With that, we come to the end of the series of Internet Marketing -
5 steps to developing profitable multiple streams of income. I am sure you must have found useful information in these letters.
But there are still a number of techniques you need to master to become
a successful internet marketer.
You can gain immediate access to all of these by visiting

Yo Arian, Livingston again.

Thanks for the post, but how can I edit my blog to insert meta tags? (I don’t host it myself).

Also, when I commented to your Aweber post, I was asking how you got the autoresonder form (the html code) on your blog page.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
